We’re back with another prediction and pick for UFC 293: Adesanya vs. Strickland as we see our featured Prelim of the night coming in the Light Heavyweight (205 lb) Division. City Kickboxing’s Carlos Ulberg will take on South Korea’s Da Woon Jung in a competitive scrap as the Main Card follows immediately after! Check out our UFC odds series for our Ulberg-Jung prediction and pick.

Carlos Ulberg (8-1) has gone 4-1 in the UFC since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. He lost his debut to a tough opponent in Kennedy Nzechukwu, but has since managed to win all four of his following fights while notching three knockouts. Carlos Ulberg comes in as the sizable favorite looking for his fourth consecutive first-round KO win. He stands 6’4″ with a 77-inch reach.

Da Woon Jung (15-4-1) comes into this fight at 4-2-1 in his UFC career. With 11 wins by KO/TKO, Jung is a scary brawler who’s willing to end a fight early. After winning his first four UFC fights, Jung’s on a two-fight losing streak in which he was finished and lost a decision unanimously. He’ll have a tough test in Ulberg as he tries to get back in the win column. Da Woon Jung stands 6’4″ with a 78.5-inch reach.

Why Carlos Ulberg Will Win

Carlos Ulberg is on an absolute heater after dropping his first fight to Kennedy Nzechukwu. He learned from his mistakes in that one and has come out more poised each time out since. He’s also been fed a steady increase in competition with each fight out and will be hoping to turn in his best performance yet in front of his home crowd. He’s a terrifying kickboxer with lightning fast kicks and bricks for hands. When landing clean, Ulberg is one of the more devastating knockout artists in the division. He’s particularly violent with his ground-and-pound and he’s keen on ending things in the first round. He usually sits opponents down with the first strike he lands, so expect him to catch Jung with something sooner rather than later.

Ulberg usually enjoys a size advantage in the octagon, but he’ll actually be the slightly shorter fighter in terms of reach. Still, he has a ton of strength over Jung and could engage in some clinch work if the fight calls for it. From there, Ulberg is very dangerous with his elbows and knees up the middle, so look for him to welcome the opportunities when they come. To win this fight, he’ll have to stay patient through the activity of Jung and find his perfect shot when it opens up.

Why Da Woon Jung Will Win

Da Woon Jung has had some impressive performances thus far and actually defeated Nzechukwu with an elbow knockout not too long ago. His chin has wavered in his fights since, but he’ll have an edge in experience over his opponent in this one. Jung is a technical striker with boxing being his main focus. He does well moving his head and will land accurately to the head and body, but he’ll have to focus on keeping his output high against a dangerous opponent like Ulberg. Jung also has solid offensive wrestling and can wear opponents on the cage, so look for him to tie Ulberg up and force him to defend the takedown.

We haven’t seen Carlos Ulberg truly be tested deep into a three round fight. He’s gone the distance just one time compared to Jung’s three fights, so expect Jung to be the more durable guy if this ends up turning into a war. He’s got sneaky submission capabilities and will threaten the standing guillotine if he can get over Ulberg’s head. Look for Jung to play it safe in controlling the distance as he’s aware of the power coming back towards him.

Final Carlos Ulberg-Da Woon Jung Prediction & Pick

This will be a solid test for Carlos Ulberg as he faces a proven boxer in Da Woon Jung with both fighters matching up well against each other physically. If Da Woon Jung can finesse his way past the first two rounds while controlling Ulberg against the fence and negating his striking, he could have a chance to win this by decision. However, for our prediction, we’ll side with Carlos Ulberg to get the win in Australia. He’s on a great streak right now and it’s hard to see him dropping this king of fight in this kind of moment. Look for his knockout prop as this one ends early.

Final Carlos Ulberg-Da Woon Jung Prediction & Pick: Carlos Ulberg (-295); Wins by KO/TKO (-125)
