UFC 259 takes place Saturday, March sixth, and it's the biggest card of the year so far. With Jan Blachowicz vs Israel Adesanya leading the way as the main event, it seems as though Blachowicz has a secret weapon he believes will give him the edge.
Per TMZ Sports, Blachowicz revealed his secret weapon during an interview, mentioning that fatherhood is what makes him a more dangerous fighter.
The Polish powerhouse's fiancee gave birth to their first child, JJ, back in December — and Jan says it's changed his whole outlook on life and fighting. “Mentally, I'm stronger,” 38-year-old Jan told TMZ Sports … “Bigger motivation for everything right now. To hit harder, work harder.”
It's not like Jan Blachowicz needs much motivation, to begin with. At 38 years old, he finally became the Light-Heavyweight Champion of the UFC after defeating Dominick Reyes by knockout in the second round. With an impressive 27-8 record, Blachowicz aims to win his first title defense against the undefeated Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
This should be a fantastic fight and one that could go down for the ages. With Jan Blachowicz feeling confident and motivated with his newborn son in his corner, this fight has the potential to end in dramatic fashion.
It'll be a tough fight, as Adesanya has looked like the next top fighter in the world. With Anderson Silva passing the torch to him back in February 2019, The Last Stylebender has been on a tear. In his last four fights, Adesanya has won the Middleweight title, then defended his belt three consecutive times in a row.
In one of the most highly anticipated fight cards in UFC history, we'll see if Blachowicz has the power and motivation to be the first person to defeat Israel Adesanya in UFC 259.
