Hardy's UFC career started out pretty well, as he earned a solid 7-2-1 record in his first ten fights. However, his last few showings have been abysmal, as the talent level seems to have caught up to him. His latest bout, in fact, was an embarrassing first-round TKO that saw Hardy get beat up by Sergey Spivak rather quickly.
Article Continues BelowHardy has been a rather controversial figure in the UFC scene, mainly due to his status as a former NFL star. Hardy, however, was adamant that he would be kept around by the organization, saying back in January that his fights bring a lot of fans to the stadium.
âMy cards do big numbers, Iâm always on big cards, Iâm always entertaining the crap out of the crowds,â Hardy said to BJPENN.com. âThis is my last contract fight and they are putting me in there with Aleksei. We arenât picking and choosing, we are fighting fighters and are making our way up.â
Unfortunately for Hardy, his time in the UFC ring has come to a close. It remains to be seen whether Hardy will continue fighting for other MMA organizations or if he'll retire for good. A potential return to the NFL could also be in the cards, though considering his history there, no team might not want him back.
