AJ Fletcher is set to take on Matt Semelsberger at UFC Vegas 50 in his debut with the promotion. The Louisiana native signed to the promotion last year but has been on the shelf for months.
Now he's back and set to take on a UFC veteran in Matt Semelsberger. AJ Fletcher couldn't help but be excited when the fight was offered to him for his UFC debut.
“I was excited,” Fletcher told ClutchPoints ahead of his UFC debut. “I've seen him fight before, he's got an exciting style. He's got a beautiful right hand. He comes to bring it. He's got a similar background to me as well, a former football player. Getting a debut against somebody going into their fifth fight, I see it as a big opportunity. It's not one of these guys who have kind of been on their way out. Coming into your first fight and having that, it's exciting.
“It makes me think that ‘hey, they really want to see what I got.' This fight is gonna be one that tests me in some of those ways and answers a lot of those questions [the UFC] may have.”

AJ Fletcher sees the fight as his opportunity to test himself at the highest level. Many fighters on the regional scene dream of having exciting fights in the UFC and proving they are the best in the world.
“He brings a particular set of skills, a certain set of problems, and he's very good at what he does. So it's just it's gonna make me figure out certain things in those situations. It's gonna make me get into layer two, layer three, of attacks. Have a little bit more emphasis on tactics, on certain things. It's just the skillset he brings and it's gonna make me have certain adjustments, certain reads. I look forward to that.”
