Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal are finally booked to face each other as the main event of UFC 272. The fight comes after months of the two going at each other and setting up the future matchup.

Jorge Masvidal was supposed to face Leon Edwards at UFC 269 but was forced to pull out due to injury. Colby Covington is coming off of a loss to Kamaru Usman at UFC 268.

Colby Covington texted an ESPN reporter his reaction to the UFC booking the fight. He had a very straightforward message to Jorge Masvidal.

“He better fucking show up.”

It was a simple message but one that referenced Jorge Masvidal pulling out of the fight at UFC 269 a few months ago. Colby Covington did talk about the potential fight during an interview a few weeks ago.

“He’s just gonna get dumped on his head and knocked the fuck out unconscious. So, what’s that guy gonna do,” the UFC welterweight said to Submission Radio. “I mean this is the fight that has to happen after he keeps running his mouth. I’m a coward, I’m fragile, I’m this, I’m that, no you’re the bitch. You’re the fragile brittle little bitch, you know. I’m the king of Miami, everybody knows that. I run these streets here. The 305 is mine. I occupy this whole territory. No one can say any different and he knows that.”

“Show up or just shut your fucking mouth and let real me do work. I’m still going to be here. Put that fucking whack ass BMF belt back on the fucking line,” Covington added. “Everybody knows who the real baddest motherfucker in this sport is. It’s Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington. Bring that fucking belt out, and let’s fucking do this shit.”

The build-up to UFC 272 is going to be a lot of fun and is going to involve a lot of insults. The press conferences will be very fun.
