Colby Covington is famous for firing shots and just about anyone. The latest person that got hit full force was rising contender Khamzat Chimaev.
Khamzat Chimaev returned after almost a year off and beat Li Jingliang with ease at UFC 267. Before that he almost retired after having severe complications from COVID. His lungs had a very hard time recovering and he even thought he was going to die.
“’You know Chimaev, he’s got to do a lot more work than get three fights in the UFC,” Colby Covington said when addressing Chimaev during the UFC 268 media day. “You guys hype these guys up real quick but let’s not forget he was put down by the common cold.
“He was ready to retire off the common cold. That’s a 99.9 percent survival rate to beat the common cold and Chimaev was ready to give it up and retire. He doesn’t want to fight me. He’s got a way less chance than 99.9 percent chance against me.”
Colby Covington isn't in the business of being factual and accurate. He's here to sell fights and fire shots at potential opponents.

“We all know that healthy people, this common cold doesn’t affect healthy people,” Covington said. “As long as you’re healthy out there, you’re going to be alright.”
Khamzat Chimaev could potentially take on Colby Covington in the near future. The two are very close with their standings in the division and Chimaev is looking for an opportunity to skyrocket to a title shot.
First Colby Covington will have his hands full when he takes on Kamaru Usman as UFC 268.
