Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington had a very intense altercation outside of a restaurant in Miami. Many have reacted to the news including UFC welterweight legend, Georges St-Pierre.
Georges St-Pierre had many beef-filled fights throughout his UFC career. The Canadian had a very easy way of dealing with those situations back when he was fighting people like Nick Diaz and Josh Koscheck, he broke it down recently on The MMA Hour.
“Things get out of hand. I think guys, they take it too personal. For me, it never mattered what my opponent was saying to me. For me, it’s not personal it’s about business. The more [fighters were] trash-talking me in a way I was making more money.
“So, I really have to give a big thank you to all the ferocious opponents that I had who were trash-talking me because they built up the fight in a better, interesting way for the audience. So, I made more money. It’s good for business.”
Things got very personal between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. Georges St-Pierre always made sure little was known about his personal life in order to avoid situations like that.
“There is a reason why I never put my family and my real private life public. It’s because I know if someone wants to get to me, it’s easy for me. It comes from one ear and it goes out of the other one and I don’t take it personal.
“But if you try to get to someone that I love or someone in my family, now it’s gonna be a different story. So, that’s why I always try to hide this part of my life.”
