The 12th-ranked Utah Utes (1-0) are on the road to square off with the Baylor Bears (0-1) Saturday afternoon. Below we will continue our college football odds series as we hand out a Utah-Baylor prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.

Utah opened up the season with a big matchup against Florida. Week one makes it hard to tell which teams are good, which teams are bad, and which teams are just knocking the rust off. However, Utah ran out their backup quarterback, and their defense came to play in their 24-11 win. The Utes' defense came out of the game with five sacks, seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage, four pass deflections, and one interception. Utah came out aggressive and attacked every aspect of Florida's offense in the game. Offensively, Utah did enough to secure the win. They only gained 270 total yards, but they found ways to score three touchdowns and get into field goal range for the other points.

Baylor started the season off with a loss against Texas State. This should not be very surprising, though. Baylor ended last season on a four-game losing streak, so they have started this season the same way they ended last season. During the game with Texas State, the Bears did put up 31 points. Blake Shapen threw for over 300 yards and added two touchdowns through the air. Shapen also scored the lone rushing touchdown for Baylor. Defensively, Baylor was not able to put much pressure on the quarterback. They had just one sack and only two pass deflections. Baylor looked pretty good on offense, but their defense could use a lot of help.

Why Utah Will Cover The Spread

Utah's offense should have an easier time with this Baylor defense. Baylor allowed 441 total yards in week one, and they gave up 42 points. There is a chance that Cameron Rising returns for this game, and that would elevate the Utah offense even more. Last season, Rising threw for over 3,000 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also rushed for 465 yards and six touchdowns. Rising is the leader and playmaker that Utah is missing out on. Keep in mind, they beat Florida in week one with their backup. If Rising does return in this game, Utah will come firing and Baylor's defense will not be able to keep up.

Why Baylor Will Cover The Spread

It will be up to Baylor's offense once again. Baylor gained 524 total yards of offense in week one. Shapen threw for over 300 yards, and they rushed for 108 yards as a team. It is clear that Baylor is going to be a passing offense, but they will need to be at their best in this one. Utah is relentless on defense, and they will put pressure on Shapen. If the offensive line can hold out long enough for Shapen to make a play, or find an open guy, they will be in good shape. After all, Utah did give up 346 yards of offense against Florida. If Baylor can keep up offensively, as they should, they will cover the spread.

Final Utah-Baylor Prediction & Pick

Utah is only favored by a touchdown in this game. I think that is not enough points. Utah will have a much better offense with Cameron Rising under center, and their defense is going to be on full display against a passing offense. I think Utah wins this game by two scores.

Final Utah-Baylor Prediction & Pick: Utah -7.5 (-105), Under 46.5 (-110)
