Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles' 2017 season essentially ended before it even began. Sproles suffered a broken arm and a torn ACL on the same play during a run in Week 3 against the New York Giants.

As a result, the veteran ball-carrier's future in the NFL became unclear. However, Sproles said in a video for virtuallinc.com that he' leaning toward giving it another shot:

“I don’t have to play next year, but I’m leaning towards coming back,” Sproles said. “I can’t end like this.”

It should come as no surprise that Sproles seemingly plans to make a return. The pint-sized powerhouse has made a career out of overcoming insurmountable odds.

Given his diminutive stature, there was some concern when Sproles came into the league that he would not be able to handle the grind that comes with playing running back in the NFL. Needless to say, he has proved that notion wrong by missing only eight games in his career prior to the 2017 NFL season (he did miss the entire 2006 season after breaking his ankle in the preseason and going on IR). This is the only year where he started on the roster that he was actually forced to miss more than three games.

The veteran back is set to become a free agent after this season. If Sproles draws any interest from teams looking for a spark on offense, he will need to confirm his playing status sooner rather than later.
