It is not often that the NBA's marquee matchups during the regular season actually live up to the hype. However, tonight's star-studded showdown between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors was certainly an exception.

Although the game was ultimately a blowout for a majority of the night, it did not lack in competitive spirit. Despite the hostile atmosphere on the court, superstar point guard Russell Westbrook still said he does not believe there is any rivalry brewing between these two teams during his postgame interview on NBA TV:

Players and coaches alike had been trying their best to downplay the hype already surrounding this matchup. Even Westbrook himself was adamant about treating tonight as if it was just another game. However, it did not take long for fans to see that could not be any further from the truth.

The reigning NBA MVP had noticeably put an emphasis on trying to get his teammates involved all year. However, it was clear that Westbrook planned to take matters into his own hands all night long as he finished with a game-high 34 points. Despite being in attack-mode, he still managed to finish one assist shy of a triple-double. Whether he wants to call it a rivalry or not, it is safe to assume that there will be no love lost between these two teams moving forward.
