Former Minnesota Vikings CB Jeff Gladney was acquitted of assault charges Thursday that stemmed from an alleged incident back in April 2021.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Gladney was found not guilty this afternoon by the Dallas County Court.

Last summer, Gladney was indicted by a Dallas Grand Jury on a Third Degree Family Violence Assault charge. On Thursday, the Vikings' former first-round pick was exonerated of that charge.

Gladney was facing 2-10 years in prison if the ruling was upheld.

Following the initial indictment, Gladney was released by the Vikings. Gladney had only played one season for the Vikings after being selected with the 31st overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

Jeff Gladney was productive in his only year with the team, starting 15 games while accumulating 81 tackles and a forced fumble.

It is unclear still if Gladney will attempt an NFL comeback. It is worth noting that the former TCU Horned Frog remains only 25 years old with outstanding coverage abilities. Maybe he returns to the Vikings, but that's not likely.

There remains a possibility that Gladney could be suspended by the NFL under the league's Personal Conduct policy, according to Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune. Under league policy, the young CB can be suspended while the league continues to monitor the situation. Gladney will likely have to be reinstated by the league office before he can begin exploring his next options. If Gladney is able to avoid suspension from the league office, he will become an intriguing free agent.

NFL free agency begins March 16th at 4 pm EST. It is likely the league will work to resolve this issue before that time.
