The Minnesota Vikings are starting the season with a convincing win over the Atlanta Falcons. However, they had to sideline new wide receiver Josh Doctson.

Ian Rapoport got wind of the development and immediately tweeted the development. The timeline for his return is reportedly set to later on in the season.

The injury seems to involve his hamstring. Doctson took part in the Vikings' practice Wednesday, though his involvement was limited. He was listed as inactive during Week 1 due to a coach's decision.

The former first-round pick in 2016 didn't do much during his three-year stint with the Washington Redskins. He only managed 1,100 yards on 81 receptions. His catch rate was at a disappointing 50%.

Doctson was reportedly excited to join the team and reunite with former Washington teammate Kirk Cousins.

“Minnesota called, and it was a no-brainer (because of) knowing Kirk,” Doctson said, via the team's website. “It's a good feeling to see somebody familiar out there under center. It's going to be good, and we'll just continue to work.”

Cousins was also happy with his arrival.

“It’s hard to bring someone in who I have no reps with and expect them, with two or three days of practice, to jump in, but you have a longer relationship, I think that makes a big difference, and I think he does have some special skill sets that we can use to our advantage.”

Doctson is hoping to restart his NFL career with the Vikings, but this is not the way to do so. He can only hope to come back stronger and get snaps after he is moved back from the IR.
