Golden State Warriors reporter Drew Shiller has found the spotlight shining brightly on him once again for reasons he would rather not. After sending out a tweet that insinuated Warriors head coach Steve Kerr specifically mentioned Kevin Durant when talking about growing frustrations during his final year in the Bay Area, Shiller backpedaled and apologized after Kerr called him out. Bomani Jones isn't buying the apology, having gone through something similar with Shiller himself.
Here's the initial tweet:
Steve Kerr told @loganmmurdock he enjoyed last season (when the Warriors went 15-50) more than Kevin Durant's final season with the Warriors.

The tweet makes it sound like Kerr was directly pinning blame on Durant for some of the choppiness the Warriors experienced in his final year with the team. There's really no other way to read that tweet then to come to that conclusion.

Kerr never even mentioned Durant specifically. It sounds like he was more so talking about all the adversity with the injuries the Warriors went through leading up to and in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. There's some gray area in the quote where he alludes to more without being direct about it, but to directly tweet out a reference to Durant in an attempt to connect the dots that Kerr never laid out was a bit off.

Not a great look if you're Drew Shiller.
Perhaps the apology to both Jones and Kerr were sincere and genuine slip-ups by the Golden State reporter. Or maybe he reaches for the clicks at the expense of who or what it is he's talking about. It's clear what Jones thinks.
In this one case that can be used as a reference, it was clear Shiller was trying to stir the pot and draw eyeballs, and it was a reach from what Kerr had initially said.
