When DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year deal with the Golden State Warriors, it was with the intention of rehabbing from his torn Achilles and then eventually having the opportunity to compete for a championship.

Well, that is exactly what happened, as Cousins returned to the floor in January and got a chance to play in the NBA Finals.

Of course, the road was not easy, as Cousins suffered a torn quad in the first round of the playoffs and was initially ruled out for the remainder of the postseason, but Cousins gutted it out and returned in the finals, putting together some solid performances to help the Warriors stay alive in what ended up being a six-game series loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Now, with Cousins heading into the offseason as a free agent, we don't what the future holds for him, but he made sure to offer up a heartfelt message to the Warriors and Warriors fans on Saturday:

In 30 games with Golden State during the regular season, Cousins averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals over 25.7 minutes per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor, 27.4 percent from three-point range and 73.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by the Sacramento Kings with the fifth overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft.

He spent the first six-and-a-half years of his career with the Kings before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans midway through the 2016-17 campaign.

Cousins then tore his Achilles during his first full season with the Pelicans in 2017-18.

He has made four All-Star teams.
