Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said center DeMarcus Cousins is still on track to make his season debut on Friday against the L.A. Clippers, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

A previously-leaked timeline starred Jan. 18 as his return date, two days prior to a showdown against his former team, the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Alabama native has missed the first half of the season after recovering from a season-ending ACL injury that put an end to his 2017-18 campaign prior to the All-Star break. After contract negotiations dried over the rest of the season, Cousins shut the door on a possible return to New Orleans and signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal for the mid-level exception with Golden State.

The Warriors have been more than patient, perhaps to the point of frustrating Cousins, as Kerr wanted to see him “get over a wall” before green-lighting his return to the court.

Friday's game against the Clippers will bring a slew of eyes in his debut, as the Warriors head into the most menacing stretch of this regular season with five games on the road, all on national TV. Golden State will face the Clippers, Lakers, Wizards, Celtics, and Pacers before returning home against the Philadelphia 76ers at the end of the month, giving critics plenty of time to dissect Cousins' role in the offense.

The 6-foot-11 big man is likely to start on a minutes restriction while also being limited in back-to-back sets (first on Feb. 12-13 vs. Utah/Portland) while he gets incorporated into this All-Star studded lineup.
