As part of an appearance on the “All the Smoke” podcast, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green claimed that he and his teammates — Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson — changed the game of basketball.

During his appearance, Green noted that he and Curry were a “match made in heaven,” citing the fact that they helped one another excel:

“I think I changed the game of basketball with the help of Steph Curry,” the Warriors forward said during his appearance on All the Smoke. “I think Steph Curry changed the game of basketball with the help of me. I think it was a match made in heaven. And then Klay Thompson comes into his own and becomes one of the top-2 shooters in the world… us three changed the game of basketball forever.”

The Warriors talent may have a point here. Other teams have tried to live on the long ball, but few have been as effective as the Golden State Warriors.

With Curry and Thompson raining a barrage of long-distance threes and Green's defensive prowess on the boards, the Warriors made four consecutive NBA Finals appearances. The first came in 2015, when they defeated LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 4-2. One of the NBA's greatest rivalries would ensue in the following years, with the Warriors winning three of their four championship matchups against the Cavs.

This season, however, the Warriors have struggled to find a rhythm, as their league-worst 15-50 overall record suggests. Injuries have played a role, including those to Stephen Curry (hand) and Klay Thompson (ACL).

The NBA decided to suspend this regular season back in March due to ongoing concerns with the conronavirus pandemic. At this point, it's not clear when (or if) play might resume.
