This is the time of year NBA players, coaches and media start a lot of conversations about awards. Saturday night, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green shared why he believes Jordan Poole should win Most Improved Player over Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.

“The award is called the Most Improved, not who had the best year,” Green told ClutchPoints. “That's the MVP award actually, and I think a lot of times we get confused when talking about the Most Improved Award or who in that group is having the best year, but no disrespect to Ja Morant, but Ja Morant is an MVP candidate.”

Morant’s Grizzlies secured the No. 2 seed in the playoffs over Green’s Warriors. The young star is leading Memphis with averages of 27.4 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. The explosive point guard is also shooting a career-high 49.3 percent from the field.

“Ja Morant isn't a Most Improved Player candidate,” Green doubled down and said. “Ja Morant was incredible last year. So when you look around, the most improvement has been Jordan Poole.”

Meanwhile, Poole has been amazing for the Warriors. Since entering the league, the 22-year-old has done nothing but get better, and this season getting better meant helping his team win a ton of games without Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson in the lineup.

Poole is averaging career highs in points, rebounds, and assists. Whether it's stepping into Thompson’s role or Curry’s, Poole has starred in both, which is why Green believes he should win the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award.
