Klay Thompson is in the home stretch of his recovery. The beloved Golden State Warriors shooting guard is just weeks away from his imminent return to the basketball court. Nobody is more cognizant of that fact than the man himself.

The Warriors star was clearly soaking in all the emotions as he remained motionless on the sidelines well after the final buzzer sounded in Golden State's latest win over the Portland Trail Blazers:

Longtime Warriors teammate Draymond Green spoke out on Klay's progress and where his head is at after the sideline tableau went viral.

Via Marcus Thompson of The Athletic:

“He’s right there,” the Warriors star said. “He’s right there, getting towards the end of the road — or beginning of the road, however you choose to look at it. You know, he has these days from time to time. I understand it as far as I can understand without going through it. I don’t know many people that love basketball the way Klay loves basketball. That loves competing the way he loves competing. I always talk about our dominoes games. He even loves doing that and he’s severely outmatched. He’s just a competitor. One of the biggest competitors I’ve ever been around in my life.”

To come back from two seasons on the shelf would take its toll on anybody. But for someone as passionate about basketball as Klay Thompson is, the lengthy wait has been extra excruciating.

The Warriors are getting their star back soon enough. While fans will be ecstatic to have him return, nobody will be happier than Klay Thompson himself.
