Draymond Green has always been one to speak his mind regardless of what others think and the recent comments prove that's not going to stop anytime soon. He has had a past of complaining about the pay of female athletes but also complaining about how the female athletes complain about their pay.

In a recent article, TMZ reported Green saying,

“really tired of seeing [female athletes] complain about the lack of pay” and continuing to comment “They’re not laying out steps that they can take to change [the pay disparity]”

The topic of female pay in the sports world is an incredibly complex one. There are those that would point to the revenue produced by the WNBA and that it's already a failing business while others would point to the system being rigged against female athletes' success. Green offers a solution to this too.

In the same article, Green said

“Because the people that can change it, they’re just going to continue to say, ‘Well, the revenue isn’t there. The revenue isn’t there. So, if you don’t bring in the revenue, we can’t up your pay.' They’re going keep using that”

Many see this as condescending. A millionaire athlete telling less fortunate athletes their message is wrong and they need to change their approach can seem off-putting, but it is up to the individual to determine how they will react to Green's statements. Draymond has always been an acquired taste, both on and off the court, and this is a statement unlikely to change your opinions on him.

The topic of female representation and compensation in sports is a whole other topic. It was one that most have to tiptoe around because it is a discourse rampant with rudeness and logical inconsistency. There is certainly a place for women in sports and the decades of discrimination they have faced cannot and should not be overlooked. Hopefully, their sports can become more respected and appreciated by the masses, as they should be.
