The “We Believe” Warriors playoff upset in the 2007 NBA playoffs is still one of the greatest underdog stories that Golden State fans will forever remember.

The top-seeded Dallas Mavericks had the NBA's best record (67-15) by a whopping six games and basically dominated the entire season as revenge for falling to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals a season prior. But apparently, all it took was a gritty underdog squad and some Roaracle noise to rattle them.

The Warriors find themselves in a similar situation, likely closing the season as the eighth seed in the Western Conference once more. But Draymond Green had a rather testy reaction to being compared to their counterparts from more than a decade ago, as reported by The Athletic's Marcus Thompson.

“We ain't no We Believe 2.0. We got fucking Steph Curry. We got three championships.”

On the surface, Green is definitely right. The Warriors of today have possibly the league's best single-game trump card in two-time MVP Stephen Curry. Golden State can take down any giant on nights where Curry decides to become the human torch from downtown. They were also the giants themselves throughout most of the past decade, so it's tough to consider them an underdog.

But whether Draymond Green likes it or not, this version of the Warriors definitely needs to channel some of that “We Believe” mentality if they want to make an actual playoff run. Despite the fact that Curry has turned the Warriors into must-see television this season, they're still an afterthought as a serious championship contender. Taking some inspiration from Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and the rest certainly might come in handy.
