The Golden State Warriors have been using a pretty interesting strategy to go up 3-0 against the Denver Nuggets in the NBA playoffs. Stephen Curry has come off the bench, effectively switching spots with Jordan Poole on the Warriors depth chart, who has led the Dubs in scoring with 28.7 points per game.
Not to be too outdone, Curry is averaging 25.7 points in 25.0 minutes per game against the Nuggets. The Warriors star had previously only come off the bench once since 2012 and is now thriving off the bench as he recovers from his left foot injury. Draymond Green is loving it.
As Steve Kerr starts to elevate Curry's minutes back to normal, Green shared his thoughts about Curry being able to torch Denver so soon after an injury that kept him out for a month. Curry, in Green's words, is just different.
One other way Curry is different is his willingness to come off the bench. After spending the majority of his career as the team's superstar, he stressed that coming off the bench and still dominating shows that where a player is on the Warriors depth chart is less important than how they perform. Moving to the bench can be a sign of demotion for most players, but not Curry.
The Warriors are one game away from sweeping Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. With Poole playing out of his mind, the Dubs are a scary team to face in the NBA playoffs. The Draymond Green-Stephen Curry connection is still lethal. Golden State is getting ready to advance and prove they still have what it takes to compete for a championship.
