Former New York Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek wants to return to coaching. That will likely be in an assistant role with the Golden State Warriors, per Marc Berman of the New York Post.

He was fired at the end of last season after taking the Knicks to a 29-53 record. That record looks a lot better than the product New York has on the floor right now, but that is how things go for franchises. Hornacek was trying to do something and didn't have a chance to see it through.

“We felt like we were on the right path. It felt a little like unfinished business for us. But that’s the NBA.” Hornacek said.

It is believed that Hornacek will land with the Warriors in his return to coaching. He was likely to land there prior to being offered the Knicks job by Phil Jackson. Either way, Hornacek seems to be eager to return after getting a break he didn't want.

“I absolutely want to be back coaching and getting back at it after a little break here,” Hornacek said.

The reason Hornacek was dismissed of his duties in New York was attributed to his inability to connect with the younger players. Losing could not be the reasoning because Kristaps Porzingis got hurt in February of 2017 and was out for the year.

There were also rumors that Hornacek and Porzingis did not get along, though there was never a bad word spoken about the former Knick and current Maverick by his former coach.

Should Hornacek get a gig with the Warriors, he will be going from the bottom of the barrel to the top of the totem pole. That will be a nice change, especially if it gets him a ring.
