The 2018 NBA All-Star game has pleasantly intrigued fans with an entirely new format this year. Stephen Curry and LeBron James captained their own teams in a competitive slugfest on Sunday night.

Although Team Stephen was the clear underdog in the match-up, they surprised everyone by holding a lead against Team LeBron for much of the game.

It looked like Team Stephen would come away with the win, but after some clutch performances by Kevin Durant and LeBron James, Team LeBron closed the game out with a win 148-145 win. Specifically, Durant and James played excellent defense on the best shooter in NBA history, preventing Curry from tying the game.

Durant and James came together to clamp up Curry in the final play, but Durant took all of the credit, per Aysha Tsuji of USA Today

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, for sure,” Durant said in his press conference. “That was great defense by myself.” “I don't know if we'll do that. The game was so good, it was so competitive, the best one I've been part of. I was grateful that I got this opportunity. We all played a great game, so there's no trash talking.”

Durant is one of the best defenders in the NBA, and James isn't a bad defender himself. Obviously, Durant is feeling great after taking down his Warriors teammate. This is a rare occasion where James and Durant teamed up against Curry.

Down the road, the tides can turn and Durant and Curry will potentially face James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. Maybe then, Curry won't falter under the pressure.
