Tuesday’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder may not have turned out as expected, given the final score, but both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook proved how competitive they are.

It did not take long for the two to figure in some trash-talking, which pumped up the crowd more. The fans were obviously still not willing to give Durant a warm welcome inside Chesapeake Energy Arena, but he said it was much better than his first game back last season. The reigning Finals MVP also said he has nothing but love for his former teammate, and their heated moments were just part of the game.

Westbrook finally won a game versus the Dubs, as they blew them out on the night, 108-91. It was his first victory over Durant, after he and the Thunder got swept last year during the regular season. He received a lot of help from his two new All-Star teammates, as Paul George and Carmelo Anthony combined for 42 points and 16 rebounds. The Brodie finished one assist away from a triple-double with 34 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

As both teams are scheduled to meet three more times this season, it can be expected that Durant and Westbrook will continue to jaw at each other during games. It may seem like they are taking it personal, but with the Warriors forward’s comments, they may just be feeding off each other’s intensity, and helping them play at an even higher level whenever they compete on the court.
