Despite an amazing performance from the Golden State Warriors in their Game 6 victory over the Houston Rockets, a reporter refused to spare their players of the bitter memories of their letdowns a couple of years ago.

It was Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant — who both had noteworthy games scoring 29 and 23 points, respectively — who were asked to reminisce on a forgettable season two years ago.

To put the question into context, the reporter was pertaining to Klay Thompson's remarkable display for the Warriors in Game 6 of the 2016 Western Conference Finals in which he drained a Playoffs record 11 threes against the Oklahoma City Thunder. At that time, the man leading the charge for the Thunder was no other than Kevin Durant. Thompson came close to that record Saturday night when he made a total of nine shots from distance en route to a team-best 35 points.

Here's the tweet from basketball correspondent Ben Golliver:

That year, the Thunder would end up losing Game 7 to the Warriors in Oakland which turned out to be Durant's last game for the team that drafted him second overall in the 2007 NBA Draft.

For Curry — who echoed his teammate's refusal to talk about not just that particular game, but that season in general — the ultimate failure far outweighed the successes of the 2015-16 season. Curry and the Warriors bettered the long-standing regular season win-loss record set by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the 1995-96 season by garnering a total of 73 wins against just nine losses. The icing on the cake was his second-straight MVP trophy after leading the team to a ridiculous regular-season standing. It was also the first time in history the Most Valuable Player trophy was awarded after a unanimous vote. However, the Warriors ultimately lost the finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers after leading the series 3-1 in what many consider to be the biggest upset in NBA finals history.

Both Curry and Durant have a chance to redeem themselves this year with another championship. This, however, will only be achievable if they are successful in defeating the Rockets in Game 7 in their home soil come Monday night.
