During last Monday’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans, former Olympic team teammates DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant got into the face of each other during a mini-scuffle on the court. Both players were ejected, but the enmity didn’t end there.

In fact, Cousins’ blood seemed to be still curdling when he hit the dugout. And we have photo evidence of it, too. An image taken by Sam Hodgson of the New York Times, shows Boogie being restrained in the dugout by security personnel of Smoothie King Center, as the big man was still seething in anger, trying to locate Durant.

Cousins surely wasn’t hunting for Durant so he could give the former NBA MVP a warm and tight hug nor to invite him to a post-game dinner downtown. From the looks of it, Cousins was looking to follow in the footsteps of Bobby Portis when dealing with hostility.

It’s a good thing that cooler heads prevailed here. Otherwise, someone could’ve been hurt or worse, seriously injured.

The Pelicans and the Warriors won’t meet again until Apr. 7 next year. Both teams are likely to have cemented their place in the standings by then, but the idea of Cousins and Durant meeting once more should make that game just a little bit interesting.
