An anonymous Western Conference scout says the Golden State Warriors “need to be punched in the mouth before they’re Golden State,” according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

The scout may be referring to what happened in Game 2 against the Los Angeles Clippers, when the Warriors blew a 31-point lead at home and lost.

Since then, Golden State was won two-straight games against the Clippers and is one game away from advancing to the second-round of the playoffs.

I just question the Warriors’ ability to continually focus. It seems like nowadays they need to be punched in the mouth before they’re Golden State. They’re not just coming out on a mission and overwhelming teams. Maybe I will regret saying this, but I just don’t trust them like I used to.

The Warriors are trying to win their third-straight title this season and fourth ring in five years. All signs point toward Golden State meeting the Houston Rockets in the second round of the playoffs.

Complacency has haunted the Warriors before, but this team is unbeatable when they “wake up” from whatever dull they're going through.

It would still be a shock to everyone in the NBA if the Warriors aren't holding up the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy in June again.
