Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry has not played since breaking his left hand against the Phoenix Suns in the fourth game of the season. But he could be nearing a return.

Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic reported the Warriors might be blocking out March 1 as a target date for Curry's return:

The question is not if Stephen Curry is coming back this season, but when. And, from what I’ve been told, you might want to clear your schedule for March 1. The Warriors host the Washington Wizards that night.

That’s not set in stone, of course. More like a target date. But expect a return by the face of the franchise before next season.

Fans might ask the question whether it might not be smarter to sideline Curry for the remainder of the season. After all, he very well could add some wins to Golden State's total, which might lessen the value of their draft pick this summer.

But Curry appears eager to get on the floor (via Thompson):

“I’m a basketball junky,” Curry said when he jumped on the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast in the third quarter of Saturday night’s win over Orlando.

The two-time MVP has been a tremendous supporter throughout the season. He and fellow “Splash Brother” Klay Thompson are routinely seen cheering on their younger teammates. They're encouraging the overall growth of the roster even in spite of a disappointing season.

Regardless of Curry's “target” date, it does appear he will play again before the conclusion of the regular season. That gives Warriors fans something to look forward to, at the very least.
