The Golden State Warriors paid homage to Kamala Harris on Twitter leading up to Wednesday's inauguration of Harris and Joe Biden. The Warriors, led by star point guard Stephen Curry, sent a jersey as a welcoming gift to the 49th Vice President, a proud native of Oakland, California.

The 56-year-old has vast experience in politics after serving as District Attorney for San Francisco from 2004 to 2011. Afterward, she proceeded to hold the position of Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017. Most recently, Kamala Harris concluded her time in the U.S. Senate after joining in 2017. While serving as senator, she was a part of a number of committees that aimed to tackle issues in a handful of areas in society.

Harris ran alongside Biden in the recent U.S. Presidential Elections. They're taking over the administration led by U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. The Biden-Harris ticket accounted for 51% of the votes, as opposed to Trump and Pence's 47%. There was a lot of contention surrounding these elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic and mass polarization around the country.

Kamala Harris is the first woman to be sworn into office as Vice President in the history of the United States. In addition, she is an African American and is also of Indian descent. Her victory in the recent elections serves as a huge inspiration to many people, and the Biden administration will now get to work on the many challenges facing them after a very difficult 2020.
