Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry is not one to forget about the path he took towards achieving greatness. This includes constantly showing love and gratitude for the people who helped him along the way.

Recently, Curry handed out a number of special pairs of his Under Armour Curry 6s to 30 select individuals who he considered to have had a significant impact in his journey. The diverse collection of special individuals include personalities such as team executives, former coaches, Oracle Arena security personnel, Curry's own personal barber, and even his family's dog sitter.

Curry explained what made this particular pair of kicks special, and how it pays tribute to the wonderful city of Oakland.

“It seems like everything we’ve put out this year, like ‘The Town’ colorways, has been a part of my story or something about Oakland,” Curry told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated. “It has the city of Oakland’s name across it.”

The former back-to-back MVP winner went on to share how the concept of the shoe also honors Oracle Arena — the stadium that the Warriors have called home for the past so many years.

“I was hoping for something iconic that could capture a moment as we wind down our last days at Oracle,” he added.

Golden State will be moving to the newly-constructed Chase Center starting next season, and this Finals series will officially be the last time the team will play inside Oracle Arena. It has been quite a memorable ride for Curry and the Warriors, so it is only apt that he pays tribute to their soon-to-be-former stomping ground.
