Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has recently come up with a novel idea to raise more funds for the fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Todd Spangler of Variety reports that Curry and his camp have organized a fund-raising event that will center around a stay-at-home competition among a number of celebrities. They have aptly called it “UHC: Ultimate Home Championship.”

“UHC” features seven competitors from the world of YouTube and sports — DeAndre Jordan, Kristopher London, Von Miller, Ronda Rousey, Lindsey Vonn, The F2, Ryan García — along with “sideline commentators” including gaming superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, ESPN’s Katie Nolan and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ego Nwodim.

It is a play on words with renowned mixed martial arts outfit UFC or Ultimate Fighting Championship. While there will be no actual combat or fighting involved in Curry's project, we're certain that the level of competition will still be extremely high.

“UHC” will be aired on Curry's own YouTube channel starting on Friday, June 26, during which viewers will be asked to make donations to the WHO's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

Curry, the self-proclaimed UHC “commissioner,” himself made a statement describing what he expects from the program.

“With ‘Ultimate Home Championship,’ we were able to create a fun and safe environment for entertaining competition,” the Warriors star said. “We invited the best athletes in the world to compete and raise money for a great cause.”

This seems to be something to get excited about, and it does appear that the production value of this show alone is going to make it worth watching. There's not much new content on these days anyways.
