The Golden State Warriors are still in the playoff hunt, but it's going to be a battle to get there given their standing as the 10th-place team in the Western Conference. Regardless of what happens this season, the future is bright for this organization, as Nico Mannion has caught the attention of Stephen Curry and the coaching staff.

After being selected in the second round by the Warriors, Mannion has earned his way into a backup point guard role this year. His drive and motivation are what have given him this opportunity. In fact, he could be the primary backup behind Curry for years to come.

It seems as though the team and the front office have really taken a liking to Nico Mannion. Curry has taken some of his own time to help teach and train Mannion, and the two have created a special bond.

Via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle:

The two quickly bonded over a shared background: In addition to being born on the same date 13 years apart, Curry and Mannion both have mothers who played high-level volleyball and fathers who played in the NBA. Recognizing that Mannion had a desire to be great, Curry started pulling him aside after workouts to school him on the nuances of pick-and-roll coverage, help-side defense and off-ball movement.

The rookie point guard gives some hope for the Warriors' future, as he has the potential to provide legitimate depth off the bench behind Curry for this season and beyond.
