After having what he said was the best summer he has ever had, it's safe to say Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been on an absolute tear to start the 2018-2019 NBA season. He's currently averaging 34.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists on 55 percent field goal shooting and 52.4 percent 3-point shooting.

Curry's latest game-breaking performance came against the Washington Wizards, a game in which he dropped 51 points on 11 3-pointers in only three quarters of play. This is the sixth time in his career Curry has made 11 or more 3s in a game. To put that in perspective, there have been 13 such games in NBA history and nobody has done it more than once except for Curry.

In a tweet from Candace Buckner, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks was quoted as saying:

“You can get frustrated with how we defended certain actions but the bottom line is we saw a performance that only one player on the planet can do. Nobody makes those shots. Nobody.”

It's tough to disagree with Brooks' comments here. While a few of Curry's shots in that game were relatively open, most of the other shots were defended pretty well. If it wasn't a step-back off the dribble, it was a 30-foot bomb, shots that for most other NBA players would have been horrible.

It is interesting that Curry seems to be playing with an added chip on his shoulder, given everything that he has already achieved. Maybe you can attribute it to him not being mentioned as much in conversations as to who is the best player in the world. Maybe you can attribute it to being more comfortable playing with Kevin Durant.

Either way, it's definitely a good thing for the Warriors and a scary development for everyone else.
