According to the latest trade rumors, Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell could be packaged in a trade offer for Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers.

According to Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, the 76ers are eyeing a guard who can both orchestrate the offense and shoot. Russell fits this bill. And since the Warriors got him last summer, rumors quickly circulated which revealed that the guard will likely be used as a trade asset in the team's rebuilding process.

One of the interesting possibilities I’ve heard being kicked around is Russell for Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons. The 76ers could use a point guard who can score and run the show — and shoot. Some believe the pairing of Simmons and big man Joel Embiid isn’t viable in their pursuit of a championship. Simmons, as one source told me, is probably the best player the Warriors could possibly get for Russell, just considering the needs of the Warriors and their potential trade partners.

However, one clear obstacle is Simmons' fit with the Warriors. After all, in the event that the swap pushes thru, Simmons will play alongside Draymond Green — a player who also cannot shoot and plays the point-forward position. Even if the Warriors have Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson on the floor, defenders could simply sag off Green and Simmons. This will create nightmares for Steve Kerr and crew.

Nevertheless, the rumor suggests that the Warriors are going to be aggressive in their rebuilding campaign. They simply aren't going to give up their assets for nothing.
