Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is no stranger to culture, and is quite possibly one of the foremost voices in the NBA on the subject.

So it's no surprise that Green has an opinion on the impact on Dr. Dre, one of the most influential rappers of all time. During a media session, Green spoke at length about Dre and what he means from a cultural standpoint, per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

“In the black community, to go from music to one of the biggest CEOs we've seen, just showing kids that hope, giving kids that hope, coming from Compton and just showing guys there are ways out,” Green said. “It's special.”

Green also spoke to the music of Dre and certain albums and the impact they had on society. Dre was a guest at a Warriors practice today.

The Dre question came before a question regarding basketball. It's always interesting to hear the takes from players regarding other subjects that have nothing to do with their professions.

Players sometimes get pigeonholed into their jobs, giving the impression that they only know about basketball and other sports, thus they are only qualified to discuss those topics. However, nothing can be further from truth, and Green proves that with the answer he gave about Dre.

Reporters shouldn't be shy about asking players about certain topics not having to do with basketball, though readers usually only want to hear about the sport they are watching and not much else. Many Warriors players in particular have no problem speaking out on other issues, though, and it's always eye-opening to see what they will say on any given day.

It's nice to hear Green say something the NBA would certainly not fine him for.
