As hard as the players and coaches tried to downplay the buzz surrounding the heavyweight showdown between the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder, it was impossible not to buy into the hype with all the heated exchanges that occurred on the hardwood. To no surprise, they were mainly fueled by former teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.

The two superstars were engaged in trash talk all night that ultimately seemed to culminate late in the game when they got in each other's faces. However, Durant refused to elaborate on their minor scuffle afterward, according to ESPN's Chris Haynes:

Kevin Durant was seen mouthing some derogatory words toward Russell Westbrook during their confrontation midway through the third quarter. However, it is clear that both sides are still trying to downplay any notion of an ongoing beef between the two.

Following the game, Westbrook essentially took the same approach as Durant after denying any chance of a budding rivalry starting to brew. Although Durant has gotten the better of Westbrook since his departure, it was the reigning MVP who got the last laugh this time.

Golden State and Oklahoma City have done a nice job so far of keeping the drama on the hardwood. However, try as they may, there is no denying that these teams are going to have a little something extra for each other from here on out.
