Stephen Curry went back to memory lane after yet another deep postseason run, remembering a fun moment he shared with Kobe Bryant after draining a 3-pointer in his face. The Golden State Warriors guard had shown flashes of brilliance, but 2014 was a special year, and that was evident from the preseason, when he buried one down the hatch with none other than The Mamba himself d'ing him up all 94 feet.

“This was the year after his Achilles (injury), so there's a whole backstory,” Curry recalled. “He was trying to get his competitive fire back after he missed so much time. This is a preseason game, I believe we were in Ontario, Canada.

He started to pick me up full court like two possessions in a row, so this was the second possession. I took the challenge, but they let him foul and they didn't call nothing, so I had to kind of work with that. I came down the court and he was trying to steal it, trying to be physical, so I got him with a little half step to get a little bit of space and then pull up from deep, then obviously it went in. Then he smiled afterwards and a little ass tap there.

I tried not to have a reaction there because I was in the moment, but after I was like ‘damn, that was pretty cool because Kobe doesn't usually show that type of emotion to anyone.”

While this would otherwise be a meaningless moment in the preseason, getting this kind of intensity from an assassin like Kobe Bryant is one of the many moments Curry will keep near and dear his highlight-reel library.

To make matters more valid, Curry would win his first MVP trophy that season and lead the Warriors to the best record in the league with 67 wins.
