The Chicago White Sox entered the 2022 baseball season with extremely high expectations. Not only were they favored to win the American League Central division, but also were among the most likely to win the World Series. Unfortunately for Chicago, the season has not gone as planned so far. Much of that has had to do with injuries. On Thursday, the White Sox were dealt another blow on the injury front.

Eloy Jimenez had his rehab assignment shut down after he experienced leg soreness.

According to The Athletic's James Fegan, the White Sox young star needs to be inactive for at least five days before he can begin a new rehab assignment. The hope is that he can start that next week, but there certainly is no guarantee.

Jimenez was placed on the 10-day injured list on April 26th with a right hamstring strain. The initial timetable for his return was six to eight weeks. Now it appears eight weeks is the earlier possible return, but will likely be out longer.

The White Sox also placed shortstop Tim Anderson on the 10-day IL with a groin injury. The hope is that he will return in the next week or two. However, groin issues tend to linger and can flare up at any time. Chicago starting pitcher Lance Lynn is still yet to pitch this year. He suffered a knee injury just prior to the season starting and was placed on the 60-day IL. The big righty is nearing his return though, with the hope he can make his season debut next week for the White Sox.

Chicago is 26-28 and five games behind the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.
