The up-and-coming Chicago White Sox have a new manager in Hall of Fame skipper Tony La Russa. However, the previously retired La Russa has already found himself in some hot water in the “Windy City” as Jeff Passan, Paula Lavigne and Charlie Moynihan of ESPN are reporting that the White Sox newest leader was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence back in February.

The plot thickens, though, as ESPN's report also mentions that La Russa was formally charged with DUI just one day before the club ultimately hired him as its new manager. The ESPN article regarding such an incident also mentions that neither La Russa nor the White Sox were able to provide any additional information about the incident.

“When reached by ESPN on Monday night, La Russa said, ‘I have nothing to say,' and hung up the phone. A White Sox spokesman said the organization was aware of the incident. ‘Because this is an active case,' he said, ‘we cannot comment further at this time.'”

Now 76 years old, La Russa is currently returning to the dugout with the White Sox (unless this scuttles his plans, which it could) after nine years away from the game while last managing the St. Louis Cardinals. Winning multiple World Series titles in St. Louis, La Russa also has a history of driving under the influence as he previously pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in Jupiter, Florida in 2007.

The White Sox are one of the most notable clubs on the rise in Major League Baseball while La Russa entered this offseason as one of the most sought after managerial candidates available.
