The season ended in the CFP semi-finals for Ohio State. They were taken down by Clemson and now some of their stars have their eyes on the 2020 NFL Draft. JK Dobbins is one of those stars and should be on the radar of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dobbins was the best runner in the country this season. He finished with 301 carries for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was top five in all three categories. Against Clemson, Dobbins carried the ball 18 times for 174 yards and one touchdown. Dobbins is a first-round talent and could land in Kansas City on draft night.

There is a clear Mount Rushmore of running back prospects in the 2020 draft class. D'Andre Swift, Travis Etienne, and Jonathan Taylor join Dobbins as runners who could all go in the first round. The Chiefs will be picking at the very bottom of the draft. This means that one of these top four can fall right into their lap and Dobbins would be a perfect fit.

Dobbins Could Join Electric Offense

The Chiefs have one of the best offenses in the league. They have a top player at most positions led by Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce. Kansas City entered 2019 with Damien Williams as their No. 1 running back. They learned soon that this was not the best idea and added LeSean McCoy on a one-year deal.

McCoy's contract is up and Williams cannot do it by himself. The Chiefs have young players in Darrel Williams and Darwin Thompson who are more effective as pass catchers as opposed to taking handoffs. Kansas City is in need of a tough runner and Dobbins fits the mold. He finished third in the nation in carries so he has the ability to carry the load.

Andy Reid is a head coach who likes to use his running backs. During his time in Philadelphia and now in Kansas City, Reid has used his backs in creative and unique ways. Right now, he is limited in what he can do because of personnel. If the Chiefs select Dobbins to pair with Williams, this will open the playbook back up for Reid. Dobbins would also make the Chiefs' offense even more electric.

There is no doubt that the Chiefs will be in the market for a running back. It is unlikely though that they choose to reunite with Kareem Hunt in free agency. The biggest name on the market this offseason will be Derrick Henry. Tennessee would be foolish to let him slip away. This would leave the draft as the best option for the Chiefs to upgrade the position and Dobbins would be a solid choice.
