The Philadelphia Eagles have had major issues finding a franchise running back after the team parted ways with LeSean McCoy and it's a position they have been addressing ever since. The Eagles have had their fair share of solid running backs over the years including LeGarrette Blount, Ryan Mathews, and Jay Ajayi.

Unfortunately none of these players have panned out the way they had hoped for and it's likely the Eagles could seek out a prospect in the upcoming draft.

On the other hand, if the Eagles need to make a quick fix at the running back position, they ought to make a call to free agent running back Marshawn Lynch. Lynch just spent the last two seasons with the Oakland Raiders and played fairly well prior to his 2018 season ending with injury. Although Lynch is 32, he still appears to have plenty left in the tank and could run well behind a solid Philly offensive line.

The Eagles could throw Lynch out on the field and find themselves with a temporary fix at the position while they let a prospect like Josh Adams or Alabama's Josh Jacobs develop further. Jacobs is reportedly being looked at by Philadelphia closely and could be their answer at the position. In the meantime, Lynch could help take advantage of an Eagles roster with plenty of talent to compete.

With quarterback Carson Wentz, tight end Zach Ertz, and wide receivers Alshon Jeffery, Desean Jackson, and Nelson Agholor, the team has a lot of promise and talent. Obtaining a proven running back like Marshawn Lynch could be a huge addition to the team and could solidify the team's shot at returning to another Super Bowl.

A key to a successful season for the Eagles next season is a healthy Carson Wentz, without him they would be forced to turn to an unproven backup with Nick Foles gone. Wentz may not have to work as hard next season with a running back like Lynch taking a lot of pressure off him and not forcing him to make plays through the air as often.

With the talent on Philly, Lynch could have a very efficient season as he would not have to be used so often and could get most of his work on short yardage and early downs.

At his age it's unlikely Lynch would have to do any work on passing plays aside from blocking and his impact on the team could relieve a lot of pressure off the team in trying to rush into finding a workhorse back. Although Lynch would likely only sign a one to two year deal, his addition provides a lot of flexibility and reassurance for the near future.

The Eagles could work a player like Adams, who they claimed to be quite fond of last season, in as much as possible and hope he learns from Lynch. Lynch brings forth a skill set unlike many other players and possesses a vast knowledge at the position.

The Eagles should take advantage of while he is still a free agent.
