In a move that stunned NBA fans all over the world, the Charlotte Hornets traded away Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Timofey Mozgov, the draft rights to Hamidou Diallo, a 2021 second-round draft pick, and cash considerations.
This was after his lone season with the team in the 2017-18 season. He was immediately waived by the Brooklyn Nets through a buyout after the said trade. Currently, he is set to a sign a two-year, $11 million deal with the Washington Wizards that includes a player option, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This new deal will pair him with the likes of current Wizards All-Stars John Wall and Bradley Beal.
Recently, Candace Buckner of Post Sports talked to Wall in an interview to ask about his new teammate. Wall told her that Howard previously told him of his desire to play with him. Wall was quoted as saying:
“Before when we used to play, (Howard) was always like, ‘I want to play with you.”
This shows that Howard's long-time dream of playing with Wall is now becoming a reality.
It will be exciting for Wizards fans and NBA fans in general to see what the pairing of John Wall and Dwight Howard will look like on the court. Howard himself should be quite excited to finally get to suit up on the court with his good friend Wall.
Rest assured, Wizards fans are in for a treat as the Wizards got an upgrade in Howard at the center position to pair with their All-Star guards in Wall and Beal.
