Kelly Oubre Jr.'s whirlwind week is finally settling down as he prepares to take the floor for the Phoenix Suns for the first time following his trade from the Washington Wizards.

Kelly Oubre Jr. and the Suns will take on the Boston Celtics in TD Garden on Wednesday. However, before he plays for his new team, the swingman took to Twitter to thank the Wizards and the DC family for giving him an opportunity over the last four years.

Oubre is a strong wing defender with a lot of upsides — he's still only 23-years old. That being said, he's the only asset Phoenix acquired and is set to be a free agent at the end of the season. So essentially, the Suns traded for the opportunity to sign Oubre in the offseason.

It's hard to believe that this was the best deal Phoenix could have gotten in return for Trevor Ariza. It's a gamble, but there's no way Ariza was coming back next year. There's still a chance that Oubre flourishes on the Suns and becomes a potential long-term part of the future.

The Suns are playing their best basketball of the season right now. They throttled the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden on Monday, marking their third win in as many games. This winning streak is coming after a 10-game losing skid.

Despite their recent hot streak, the Suns are still dead last in the Western Conference with a record of 7-24. There is little to no hope for any type of playoff push, so the team is instead focusing its efforts on the future.
