Ghana is set to receive a major boost in talent ahead of the 2022 World Cup as they're on the verge of poaching to English internationals to add to their ranks. According to reports, both Brighton's Tariq Lamptey and Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah are in the process of swapping their national allegiances to join the Ghanian national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The DailyMail indicates that both Nketiah and Lamptey could receive clearance from FIFA giving the green light on the switch as early as this week.

Neither Lamptey nor Nketiah had ever received a call-up to England's national setup, but they've made plenty of appearances in the youth levels for the national team and were pegged as possible future stars for England. Nketiah is actually the all-time leading scorer for England's U-21 team, having registered 16 goals in 17 games. Neither will be continuing on to reach the senior team, however, following their decision to join Ghana.

Lamptey was offered a spot among the ranks for England's U-21 team but turned it down in order to pursue a spot in Ghana's ranks at the senior level.

Lamptey and Nketiah are among a handful of players who attempted to switch nationalities and join Ghana ahead of the 2022 World Cup. Fellow English international and Premier League attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi, who plays at Chelsea, is also attempting to swap nationalities, as is Atletic Bilbao's Inaki Williams, who has struggled to get into Spain's setup.

Assuming FIFA agrees to their switch, the pair will both be eligible to play for Ghana in its next matches in September and join the team for the World Cup in Qatar in November.
