When his Backlash match was wrestled, and his efforts were celebrated by an incredibly loud crowd in Lyon, France, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, went back to the locker room and then over to the green room to answer questions from the international reporters assembled for the show.

Now, usually, those questions are fairly standard, with reporters more or less able to ask the same questions regardless of which winner is at the microphone, but one question that was wholly unique to the “American Nightmare” was one about his brother, Dustin Rhodes, who remains in AEW after beginning his time in the promotion with some premier matches against Dusty Rhodes‘ youngest son. How did Dustin feel to see the younger Rhodes finally achieve his goal? Well, Rhodes was willing to share his thoughts on just that, going so far as to suggest that he'd like to see him join their father Dusty in the WWE Hall of Fame.

“Asking about my brother Dustin, Goldust…we call him Chicken. There’s a second part of that name that’s inappropriate, but we’ll just say Chicken for now. Sometimes what you see on screen, what we do, it’s really hard, the suspension of disbelief. So much of what’s happening to me on screen is real. It’s happening. It’s real. And the most I ever got to be…because Dustin and I have a big age gap and different moms…the most we ever got to be brother-brothers, was when we were tagging with each other, when we fought against each other. And they were such special moments. They were tumultuous and tense. I got to find out that brothers hug and fight as well. I like to hold onto those. I don’t want to taint those, but you asked if we had that conversation. We had the shortest conversation ever at Wrestlemania, and it might have been the most important one I had. Because I know I’m hard on him, but he’s my brother. Before I had a Sting as a favorite wrestler or Shawn Michaels, ‘The Natural’ Dustin Rhodes was my favorite wrestler. He just said, ‘You’re doing it now.’ To hear that, that’s just the greatest validation ever, you know? You compete with your brother, you compete with your dad. You chase their legacies, and at the end of the day, you kinda get to the point were you’re like, ‘I just want it all to be together’ in what we’ve done. I always rally for him to be a part of our Hall of Fame, I think he should. Love him very much.

Does Dustin deserve a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame? Yes, frankly, even if you remove everything he did in AEW and just focus on his WWE/WCW efforts, his time as Goldust should happily put him at the level where he needs to be, which is good, because he has the face of WWE right now in his corner pushing to see him come out on top and placed next to his father in the annals of WWE history forever.

Dustin Rhodes had some nice things to say about Cody Rhodes, too.

After watching Cody Rhodes put him over after the very early in the morning WWE promo, Dustin Rhodes decided to return he favor on social media, letting his younger brother know that he couldn't be more proud of his accomplishments.

“Brother, there is nothing I want more for you than your happiness. We each have had our own path, we each have blazed our own trail and succeeded. We DO,when others WON'T,” Dustin Rhodes wrote on social media.

“You have become the man I always wanted to be. Whether you know it or not, you are an inspiration to me in all areas of life. Honestly, in everything I do, I think of you. I am your older brother and will always fight for you and my family. Family is all that matters to me.

“You have done and continued to make unbelievable steps in your growth as a man, husband, and father. I could not be any prouder of you Code!! I love you more than you know!! The Brotherhood Cody Rhodes.”

Is there a world where Dustin has the same or even better career than his younger brother? There could have been, but alas, WWE decided to take his career in a different direction, turning the original “Grandson of a Plummer” into a living Oscar statue and one of the best characters of his era. Even if that isn't the path he initially hoped to travel, in the end, the Rhodes family has an incredible wrestling legacy, and that gets to continue under Cody into the future.
