After becoming the new King of the Ring in a mildly contested finish at the end of King and Queen of the Ring, Gunther was afforded his first chance to address the WWE Universe since winning the crown in Saudi Arabia, and needless to say, he had plenty to address in front of a crowd that was anything but celebratory.

“On Saturday, I beat Randy Orton, and now I am the rightful King of the Ring and with that being said, I also earned the opportunity to challenge the World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. So let's talk about the current World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest. And I gotta follow this path, and I really have to say, ever since Rhea is out with an injury, he really stepped up and took on the responsibility, and I admire that because I am a man myself who succeeds when he takes on responsibility,” Gunther announced to the crowd in Savannah.

“The Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship lacked prestige, and it was on me to step up and become the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. The King of the Ring tournament was lacking prestige, and again, I had to step up and raise it to levels and heights never seen before. And now, the World Heavyweight Championship is lacking prestige because the champion won it by taking a shortcut and I don't think that…”

Unfortunately for the Ring King – the King General? – his coronation speech was short-lived, as Priest marched down to the ring to explain why he doesn't necessarily believe the line Gunther is selling to his subjects.

Gunther will beat Damian Priest regardless of his business knowledge.

With the crowd eager to see how two of the top dogs on RAW exchange words in the middle of the ring, Damian Priest took first crack at Gunther, letting him know that maybe, just maybe, the leader of Imperium isn't as savvy about the business as he thinks he is.

“Look man, you are the King of the Ring, you got an adorable crown right there to prove it and you do get a shot at SummerSlam but let's be real here, you think you earned something? We all saw you did not beat Randy Orton. You proved nothing. You want a pat on the back? Great, I could give you a pat on the back, but if you want to take credit for something, take credit for costing Randy Orton his shot,” Damian Priest told Gunther and company. “Now you want to talk about shortcuts dog listen, yeah, I cashed in but you know why? Cause I earned a briefcase in a ladder match. That's how that works, man, yeah, I cashed in, I cashed in just like a lot of others cashed in before me, that's how that works. I gotta ask you, dog, do you get how business around here works? I can teach you a lesson.”

Whoa, interesting development, but far from the last in this tour de force segment, as Gunther had plenty to say to the World Heavyweight Champion, letting him know that while he may not be good at business, he's very good at the sport, which, in the end, is all that really matters.

“Look, it doesn't matter to me how you think about this, I focus on the facts, and the facts are I am the King of the Ring, and if you're still the champion at SummerSlam, I'm going to challenge you for that title,” Gunther announced. “And in terms of teaching me about the business, well maybe you can, business is not my expertise and also I'm kind of waiting for it because ever since I stepped foot in this company, I'm waiting for somebody to teach me anything after that bell has run. I can't teach you about business, but I can teach you about this great sport. This sport that I love and protect with everything I have, so you have two options: you either give me your stupid business lecture before our match at SummerSlam and address me as King, or you give it to me after and address me as World Heavyweight Champion.”

Gosh, for not being a native English speaker, Gunther might have just delivered the best line of the year in WWE, proving that he might just be cut out for this King thing after all. While the segment was interrupted, again, shortly thereafter, with Drew McIntyre and eventually Braun Strowman marching to the ring, in the end, it looks like the feud between Priest and King Gunther could be incredibly interesting to watch… assuming Priest actually makes it to SummerSlam and isn't first beaten by the “Scottish Warrior” in front of his hometown crowd.
