While the New York Yankees continue to work towards a contract extension for superstar slugger Aaron Judge, fellow Yankees veteran Anthony Rizzo revealed some advice he gave to his teammate. Rizzo told Judge that when it came to his contract extension, he should be looking out for what's best for his family, rather than the best interests of the franchise, via Bryan Hoch.

Rizzo cited Freddie Freeman's surprising exit from the Atlanta Braves to hammer home his point about the lack of loyalty in baseball. Freeman gave everything to the city of Atlanta, culminating in a World Series championship in 2021. The Braves opted against meeting his demands in free agency and re-signing him, resulting in the Dodgers swooping in to sign the star first baseman.

“At the end of the day, it's about what is going to make him and Sam [Judge's wife] happy,” Rizzo said. “You see Freddie Freeman isn't on the Braves anymore. There's no loyalty in this game.”

After seeing that go down, Rizzo issued a bit of a warning to Judge, reminding him that his happiness and his wife's happiness should be critical in his decision.

That may not be what Yankees fans want to hear, as the fanbase is eagerly awaiting news that Judge has agreed to a new deal. Hopefully, for fans in the Bronx, Rizzo's comments aren't giving Judge second thoughts about his contract negotiations and the two sides can work something out before long.

Judge was brutally honest when speaking with ESPN's Marly Rivera on Wednesday, acknowledging that this could be his final Opening Day with the Yankees as his contract talks drag on.
