The New York Yankees took the first game of this series on Friday night 6-2, while the San Francisco Giants look to get back in the win column on Saturday after dropping three of their last five games. We will predict the series' final game as the Yankees finish their West Coast road trip. The Yankees won the first two games against the Padres before dropping two in a row to the Padres and Angels. They finished the Angels series with back-to-back wins and need just one more win against the Giants to finish a successful trip with three series wins. It is time to continue our MLB odds series with a Yankees-Giants prediction, pick, and how-to-watch.

The Yankees will send a reinvigorated Nestor Cortes Jr to the mound. Cortes Jr had a couple of good starts to begin the season but mostly struggled, with four of his seven starts giving up three or more earned runs. He turned it around over his last three starts, allowing just two earned runs and 13 hits in 17 1/3 innings. Cortes Jr was one of the few issues on the Yankees roster, but it puts New York in a great spot if he continues pitching like this.

Blake Snell waited long to sign with a team, so it was understandable when he had a slow start to the season. The Giants assumed he would settle in and return to his Cy Young form from last season. However, it's been the opposite, as he went on the injured list after his April 19th start and didn't return until May 22nd. Snell has been a shell of himself, owning a 0-3 record and a 10.42 ERA.

Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

If you had looked ahead to this game at the start of the season, there would have been plenty of excitement for a Blake Snell vs. Nestor Cortes Jr matchup. However, both pitchers struggled to begin the season and looked like disappointments for their team. Cortes Jr turned it around three starts ago and has been rock solid ever since. The same can't be said for Snell, who could be in for a long game against the Yankees hitters if he still hasn't found his form since his last start.

The Yankees haven't been hitting that well against lefties, but they are still averaging 4.3 runs/nine with a .338 on-base percentage. If Snell's struggles to find the strike zone continue, the Yankees will let him pile up base runners and knock in timely RBIs.

Why The Giants Will Cover The Spread/Win

You want to believe Blake Snell will turn it around for the Giants. Snell's walk rate hasn't been this bad since 2021 when he finished the season with a 4.20 ERA. Snell fixed his control issues over the last two seasons, but it seems to be returning to the picture. Snell can figure that out in this game, as the Yankees are hitting just .185 against lefties over their last ten games. What should Snell's strategy be in this game? Throw the ball over the plate and make the Yankees try to hit it.

Final Yankees-Giants Prediction & Pick

It's hard to trust Blake Snell in this matchup, and that doesn't include that the Giants have been hitting poorly against lefties as well. The Giants averaged just 3.9 runs/nine against lefties over their last ten games, and if they don't improve that in this game, Snell may not be able to lead them to a victory by himself.
