The New York Yankees will finish their three-game series with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. We're here to share our MLB odds series, make a Yankees-Padres prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Yankees are trying to keep the momentum going. They are currently the best team in the American League. Substantially, they entered Saturday night's game with a 36-17 record. The Yanks hope to keep generating victories as they close the series with the Padres.

The Padres are struggling to stay afloat. Significantly, they entered Saturday night's game with a 27-27 record and were tied for second place in the National League West. The Padres hope to finish the series strong and need their pitching to overcome a dangerous lineup.

Clarke Schmidt starts for the Yankees. He is 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA. Recently, he tossed five innings while allowing two earned runs on four hits while striking out six and walking two in a loss to the Seattle Mariners. Schmidt had thrown two consecutive quality starts before that game.

Joe Musgrove starts for the Padres. He is 3-4 with a 6.14 ERA. Unfortunately, he struggled in his last outing, going three innings while allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out three in a loss to the Cincinnati Reds. But Musgrove has improved over two starts before a disastrous outing. Significantly, he did well in his one start with the Yankees, going 6 1/3 innings while allowing one earned run on six hits in his one game against the Yankees.

Why The Yankees Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Yankees have an explosive offense. Significantly, they are third in batting average and runs. New York also is the best in baseball in on-base percentage, home runs, and slugging percentage.

This series has been all about the return of Juan Soto to San Diego. While he did not spend much time there, he was there for a significant amount of time to feel like a big deal, especially after the Padres traded him to the Yankees. Now, he looks to finish the series strong against the team that sent him to the Bronx. Soto made his former team pay on Friday night by going 2 for 4 with a two-run home run, a double, and a walk. Thus, he looks to do even more damage as the series comes to an end.

Anthony Volpe is the leadoff hitter and will look to get the offense humming. Then, Aaron Judge will hit behind Soto and attempt to do some damage. Judge got off to a hot start on Friday after blasting a two-run home run. Going into Friday's game, he was hitting .275 with 16 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 35 runs. The Yankees would love to see Giancarlo Stanton continue to bash the baseball after he also clubbed a two-run bomb on Friday.

The Yankees have the best pitching staff in baseball. Amazingly, they keep finding ways to fool hitters and keep the damage down. New York also has an elite bullpen. Currently, they are second in bullpen ERA.

The Yankees will cover the spread if they can club the baseball and create a large lead. Also, they need their pitching to remain elite.

Why The Padres Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Padres have a better offense this season. Ultimately, they are third in batting average and sixth in on-base percentage. San Diego also ranks eighth in runs, 16th in home runs, and 13th in slugging percentage.

Luis Arraez has been solid since the Miami Marlins traded him to the Padres. Overall, he came into Saturday's action, hitting .335 with one home run, 12 RBIs, and 31 runs. But Jurickson Profar has been even better this season, hitting .331 with seven home runs, 32 RBIs, and 32 runs. However, he went 0 for 3 on Friday.

Fernando Tatis Jr. is hitting .244 with eight home runs, 26 RBIs, and 34 runs. Unfortunately, he just isn't getting enough hits to be effective. Manny Machado has also struggled. Overall, he is batting just .233 with five home runs, 27 RBIs, and 22 runs.

The Padres have had mixed results in pitching. At the moment, they are 14th in team ERA. Their bullpen is improving. Overall, they are 11th in baseball in team ERA.

The Padres will cover the spread if they can generate some runs and take the lead first. Then, they need Musgrove to avoid making mistakes down the heart of the plate.

Final Yankees-Padres Prediction & Pick

The Yankees are too dangerous right now. Their power-hitting has been destroying teams, something the league has not seen in a while. Furthermore, they are 10-2 against the spread over their last 12 games. Expect the Yankees to continue running right through teams as they finish the Padres with a statement game before heading up the freeway for a new series with the Los Angeles Angels. Take the Yankees to cover the spread.
