The NFL season is about to kick-off and the Washington Football Team is hopeful for another playoff run. To do that, this franchise will need the best roster possible to be competitive. Luckily for them, they participate in a wide-open NFC East division that's ripe for the taking.

This team is defensively sound as Washington could have the best defense in the league this year. For that reason, the Washington Football Team should be very competitive and make another playoff appearance. With the defense intact, it's time for Washington's offense to step up.

There are a couple of starters on the offense in danger of losing their jobs. The offense looks sharp, but this franchise is still a couple of key pieces away from becoming a legitimate contender. Keep an eye on Washington, as there could be some surprise depth chart maneuvers before the start of the season. With that said, here are two Washington first-stringers in danger of losing their starting jobs.

Washington first-stringers to watch

Ryan Fitzpatrick

Ryan Fitzpatrick was brought in to serve as a bridge quarterback for Washington until they find a franchise player. Even so, head coach Ron Rivera claimed that Taylor Heinicke was in contention to win the starting job, creating a nice position battle in Washington. Fitzpatrick won the starting role, but it's not safe by any means.

Fitzpatrick is a journeyman who has become a fan favorite in recent years. As for Heinicke, he had a chance to shine in the postseason last year and made the most of it. Ryan Fitzpatrick holds the starting job for now, but don't count Heinicke out as we could see him hit the field at some point in the season.

Additionally, after the New England Patriots cut Cam Newton, there is a chance Washington makes a move in signing the veteran quarterback. Newton would rejoin Ron Rivera and could earn the starting role rather quickly. Either way, keep an eye on the quarterback situation, as Fitzpatrick's job is not safe.

Adam Humphries

The front office signed Adam Humphries this offseason to provide a boost to the wide receiver room. Terry McLaurin finally has some help in the passing game, which bodes well for his potential in 2021. It was originally believed that Humphries would serve as the main slot receiver, but a rookie has been impressing throughout training camp and the preseason.

Dyami Brown has burst onto the scene recently and looks to potentially earn a prominent role sooner, rather than later. It's also important to note that Adam Humphries has dealt with injuries the last few years since joining the Tennessee Titans. He was a solid receiver when he was healthy, but he received an injury multiple times, keeping him off of the field.

Look for Dyami Brown to keep improving, as he has a ton of potential. This is a good problem for Washington to have, as last year they didn't have many passing options outside of McLaurin and Logan Thomas. Keep an eye on the wide receiver room, as Washington has a crowded group fighting for playing time.
